The Art Of Layering

Mar 9, 08:36 PM

I’m doing a personal style project where I take one piece of clothing and reinvent it in ten different ways. This time around I’m taking this cream colored african print skirt and wearing it as an accessory to a plain dress. This is look #1 out of ten.

When it comes to updating our look we tend to look to shopping sprees as an answer to our problem. There’s a more efficient and budget friendly way to do it; it’s simply learning how to recreate the articles of clothing we already have.

Also check me out in the latest issue of Style Sample Magazine! They did a small feature on my style and the blog to which I’m eternally grateful for.

Transition

Again I want to apologize for the lack of updates. I’m going through some personal struggles and changes in life and I just haven’t been in the spirits for blogging much. I will try my hardest to not leave this blog completely forsaken though.

This coat I purchased last winter at an antique store while visiting a friend in Indiana. It’s made out of two different textured faux furs, one of which changes between green and black in different lighting. It isn’t horribly warm but oh so fashionable.

Frosty Boy

Feb 11, 05:58 PM

I received this sweater sometime ago from DKNY’s Fall 09 collection in the mail and I have yet to really show how I style and incorporate it into my wardrobe. I struggled with it for a while because pink is rarely something I wear yet I always enjoy a good challenge. This outfit kind of summed up my mood for the day; somewhat sporadic and slightly crazied.

Piece Of Art

What I wore to the museum with a friend who came to visit for the weekend . This outfit makes me feel like a rich diva which in reality couldn’t be any further from the truth. I shop at Goodwill for goodness sakes! I found this coat on the sale racks on Target back when I was doing my Christmas shopping and it was just screaming my name. It adds an animalistic nature to all my looks.

Red + Green Floral Nightie: Goodwill ($2)
Grey Faux Fur: Target ($10)

The Courtyard

Jan 18, 04:53 PM

I wore this to the museum to waste some time with a friend who came to visit for the weekend. I found this jumper the other day while cleaning out some boxes in my room. My mom went crazy when she saw me wearing it. It was her’s back in the 70s and she ooh-ed and aw-ed over the fact that it fit me perfectly. I wish she would have kept her whole wardrobe from back in the day for me to wear. I feel like I would have loved it.

This look kind of has a lot going on in it. Lot of prints, patterns and shapes but I like my style like that. Slightly obnoxious and a bit of an explosion to the eye. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Brown Plaid Jumper: Vintage
Black Sheer Cape: Goodwill ($5)
